Do I have to go with a seller to the courthouse to purchase a car?

There is a car that I am thinking about purchasing. I was wondering if I have to go to the office of the title and licensing for cars at the courthouse with the seller or if it is possible for me to purchase the car from the seller and then go by myself? I am asking because it would be much more convenient to do so than having to schedule a time for both of us to go to the courthouse. All and any answers would be helpful. Thanks.
