Can frozen beef go bad?

Put ground beef in the freezer awhile ago. I wrapped it with plastic wrap. Ive frozen meat for long amounts of time before and never had a problem, took the meat out to let it defrost, it looks a little funny, some different colors in there, some of the meat looks a little crystalized...
