Anything to know about studded snow tires?

snow is pretty bad where i live. so when i was offered studded snow tires for free i couldn't resist. i am worried though, i tend to do burnouts an peal out in my truck. will the metal studs rip out of my tires if i try this on pavement? if i stop quickly will the metal skid instead of stopping me? anything?
